AWLA President’s New Year Message
It is with immense gratitude to Almighty God that I on behalf of the EXECUTIVE COUNCIL and BOARD OF AWLA and all Awlans welcome us all into the New Year 2024!
As we look back over the past year, there is much to be thankful for.For life, for health, for provision, for guidance, for help in the hopeless security and economic situation biting hard globally, the way God has favoured us and our Association on many fronts and has kept us together despite all the odds. This Sisterhood has come to stay and will by the grace of the Almighty God continue to impact our generation and generations positively.
We remain poised to end indignity to women and children.
It is an undeniable fact that the Association has continued to contribute significantly to the legal system, access to justice and the protection, promotion and preservation of the rights and interests of women and children. and has been recognised as a symbol of excellence in service delivery despite rendering the same pro bono.
Dear Awlans, let me caution at this point that even as we have much to be grateful to God for over our achievements in 2023, the year 2024 will be a defining year for the Association because of its importance to our strategic vision. It is the year we collectively earmarked to emerge as one of the best Professional Organisations in the world rendering humanitarian service and access to justice to the underdogs, oppressed and marginalized in our various Countries, States and Communities.
We hereby invite your resolution to go the extra mile to invest in women and children, particularly the girl child.
We seize this opportunity to immensely appreciate our Sponsors, Partners, Collaborators and our Patrons for their invaluable contributions and donation to the Association. We call on you to do more this year towards meeting our set targets and events this year and beyond.
We cannot afford to rest on our oars. We have an obligation to re-dedicate our efforts with renewed energy and enthusiasm towards achieving the core objectives of African Women Lawyers Association (AWLA) – Protection of the Rights and Interest of Women and Children through Advocacy, Sensitization and Awareness and Access to Justice and Education.
The opportunities before us are enormous and we have an excellent starting point, Focus on pursuing the agenda on our 6 year Strategic plan.
Let me seize this opportunity to remind us of the very essence of living which is loving and the realisation that life without love is meaningless.
AWLA is known for love, it’s only love that can make one selflessly sacrifice for others. Let’s all shun whatever is likely to bring strife, bitterness and disunity among us.
We also seize this opportunity to thank you for your commitment to the Association
On this note, please accept my best wishes for a very peaceful, loving, prosperous and amazing new year 2024!
